We took the opportunity to combine our daily walk with a visit to Home Roots charity stall in Flackwell Heath to pick up some of their incredible sausage rolls. At the stall you’ll also find carrot cake and soup, but you need to get there early as it sells out quickly! The walk itself is full of incredible views, a field full of sheep and woodland.
Walking Route
I’ve uploaded our route onto AllTrails to make it easier for you to follow. We parked up on Green Dragon Lane by Flackwell Heath Minors Football Club. The entrance to the trail is off Chapman Lane, directly opposite Green Dragon Lane.
The walk itself is fairly hilly and just over 6km so not one for little legs. Ashley was happy running down all the hills but spent a lot of the walk in the backpack. You’ll find a link to our backpack and some other suggestions in my blog post ‘Everything you need for a muddy walk’.
Like all walks at the moment there are parts of it that are incredibly muddy so I would advise putting on your wellies.
Shortern the Route
Here’s a much shorter version at just 1.7km, so perfect for little legs. You’ll get some great views from this walk and see the sheep.
Another option for shortening the route is to start at the Crooked Billet in Little Marlow. There is some parking available outside the pub on the street. This route is just under 3km and and takes you up through the woods and across an open field.
The last stretch of this is walking alongside the road, so just be aware if you are walking with little ones. Most of the road stretch is an enclosed path though as you can see below.
The views on this walk are also amazing. Plus walking alongside the hedgerow we could see loads of holes leading to burrows which Ashley loved looking out for.
Home Roots Charity Stall
If you do either of the walks starting in Flackwell Heath then you may be lucky enough to pick up some treats from the Home Roots stall. The stall is running every Saturday during Lockdown 3 and you’ll find it outside their house on Green Dragon Lane. If you are driving down Green Dragon Lane from Chapmans Lane, you’ll find it past Minors Football Club at a house on your left. It’s easy to spot as they have a gazebo set up.
The stall is open from 10am and they serve carrot cake, soup (which changes every week) and the most incredible sausage rolls. You’ll need cash and it’s am honesty box with all profits going to different charities each week.
Home Roots is the creation of chef Ben and his wife Krystal. They create incredibly tasty home cooked meals for families and deliver around South Buckinghamshire and West London. I was lucky enough to try out some of their meals a couple of months ago (which were gifted as a pr product) and loved them so much I ordered again the following week.
They release a new menu every Friday and deliver in South Buckinghamshire on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can find out more on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
