On our way back from the Monster Zoo we visited the playground at Hazlemere Recreation Ground. This is a great little playground, most of it is enclosed with a zip line and trampoline outside the fence. It’s a particularly good park for little ones.
Playground Overview – Hazlemere Recreation Ground
This is a great mixed age playground, although particularly good for under 5’s and toddlers. It’s located at the back of a large field with trees behind.
What’s there for younger kids
The main playground is fully enclosed with a couple of play frames, one suitable for toddlers with enclosed steps, a small slide and a covered seating area which my little girl likes to play ‘shops’ from. The other play frame is larger with a taller slide, obstacles to climb through and a pole to slide down.
The swing set includes toddler swings, a swing seat and a disabled access swing.
There’s a fab seesaw which has seats with backs at each end, making it much safe safer for under 5’s so they don’t fall off backwards.
Plus a merry-go-round which is sunk into the ground and really easy to turn (unlike some which are so stiff to push) and a boat which rocks back and forth.
What’s there for older kids
Within the main playground there’s a rope and wooden obstacle course to climb around. Then outside they have a fairly large trampoline and a zip line.
In addition to this there’s a basketball court and multiplay area for football and cricket.
What else is there to do nearby?
It’s great to combine with a visit to the Monster Zoo. Read more about the Monster Zoo and how to get there here.
Café: Progress Bakery and Cafe is about a 5 minute walk from the playground (takeaway only at the moment)
Toilets: None
Cleanliness: It was very clean when we visited
Condition: Playground is in good condition. Only issue was the hole under the trampoline was filled with water, although the kids were loving getting splashed every time they jumped!
Playground surface: Artificial grass in the enclosed playground with grass surrounding it. You do need to walk a few minutes across the field to reach the playground which I’m sure could get muddy if it’s been raining a lot.
Parking: Large free car park a couple of minutes walk from the playground
Address: Amersham Road, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Sat Nav: HP15 7QW – take the first turning on the left after Willow Crescent (when heading towards Hazlemere from High Wycombe) to access the car park
